13011 4982226506167 917383010 nIt was a beautiful Vegas night for football.  Two teams battling it out under lights for the first AFA 8 Man National Championship. The 2 Time Defending Great West Football League Champion Silver State Assassins collided with the St. Louis Stars of the 8FL. Both teams evenly matched squared off. Deon Morris and the Stars took the opening possession and wasted no time in putting up the game’s first score on a TD pass. The Assassins struck back with a scoring drive of their own with a QB keeper from Dominique Budd. But late in the second quarter the Stars scored on yet another TD pass from a broken play going into the half up 12-6.

The Assassins got first start in the second half and wasted no time and punched another score on the ground by running back Lavell Bartley.  Two pt. conversion was good and now up 14-12. The momentum changed quickly as the next possession proved costly for the Stars as they were picked off by John Montoya and returned for 50 yards. The next Assassin score was punched in by Joseph Brooks making the score 20-12. The Stars refused to quit by driving down field but rendered another interception in the end zone by DB Carlos Garcia. After a turnover on downs by both teams and another score from Dominique Budd on the ground, the Stars struck again in the 4th quarter from Deon Morris with a powerful pitch run to the corner pylon bringing the score to 26-20 after the 2 point conversion was complete. To save the game for the Assassins, a fantastic kick return from Bartley of 40 yards set up Kainoa Garcia for the go ahead score leaving the game with a 32-20 mark. The Stars had one more possession but failed to score in the red zone to end the game. Hats off and special thanks to the St. Louis Stars for their professionalism and class.  They traveled far and played a hard fought game.
