AMERICAN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME NOMINATION PROCESS

  • Nomination ballots go out annually by the end of first quarter to active alumni; selections are announced the first of May; induction ceremonies are held the third week of June.
  • Individuals cannot nominate themselves for the American Football Association Hall of Fame.
  • To submit a nomination, the individual must be a "member in good standing" with the AFA's Alumni Association or an AFA Member League.
  • Only one nomination per active alumni member is allowed.
  • Players are eligible for nomination only upon retirement as an active player after 5 years.
  • Nominations are not carried over from year to year and have to be resubmitted for consideration
  • Nominations by multiple active alumni receive higher ranking consideration
  • Nominees with current membership in another hall of fame may negatively impact selection to the AFA's Hall of Fame.
  • Those who meet the criteria for consideration will be forwarded to the nominating committee, who will then make suggestions to the Hall of Fame selection committee to determine the next class of inductees
  • Attendance at the induction ceremony is mandatory for both inductee and sponsor.
  • All inductees will be contacted formally before any announcements
